Postgraduate Courses and Scientific Forums
The SMFM Pregnancy Meeting™ presents a unique opportunity for attendees to exchange ideas with their peers and colleagues. As Dr. Wylie noted in last month's issue of
Special Delivery, the
"meeting brings together experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals in obstetrics care to discuss the latest advances and emerging trends in perinatal care, exchange ideas, and build new connections.” We are fortunate to have a diverse group of practitioners who join us annually to take in all the innovations impacting our field while working together to act and ensure that our patients receive the best care possible.
To support future physicians and broaden the learning opportunities for current practitioners, attendees can participate in one of the
18 postgraduate courses. These courses address current, familiar, and uncommon challenges that are frequently encountered in clinical practice, from controversies in MFM, fetal growth restriction, infectious disease, and more.
We're excited to partner with exceptional organizations like the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet) and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which have put together the following courses.
- When do I refer the patient? An MFM’s Guide to Fetal Interventions (NAFTNet): This course aims to guide when to consider fetal interventions to enhance the care of the maternal-fetal dyad facing a prenatal diagnosis of congenital anomalies or physiological disruptions.
- Fetal Growth Restriction: Consensus and Controversies (ISUOG): This course offers an in-depth examination of the existing evidence and provides practical recommendations for managing pregnancies at risk for or affected by fetal growth restriction.
Participants of the postgraduate courses will also be able to obtain CME and, with select courses, receive AIUM Ultrasound credit. Courses will be available Monday, January 27 – Wednesday, January 29, before the start of the scientific sessions.
We kick off the start of the scientific sessions with the
Scientific Forums on Wednesday at 3:00 PM. The forums support the open exchange and discussion of research and scientific advancements on select topics such as reproductive healthcare, genetics, and patient safety and quality.
- New forum topic. The new Cardio Obstetrics forum will delve into the unique and complex multidisciplinary care of pregnant patients with cardiac disease. The forum will focus on caring for pregnant cardiac patients from preconception through postpartum.
- Hands-on experience. The Diabetes forum will bring together clinicians interested in hands-on experience using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Learn about practice tips, implementation, and troubleshooting common pitfalls of CGM use for the management of diabetes in pregnancy.
Discussions during the forums often generate new research and inspire future ideas for Pregnancy Meetings. The forum leaders have carefully selected topics and speakers to maximize your learning experience.
The meeting will be jam-packed with learning opportunities! Review the full meeting schedule to start planning and preparing for Denver.
