There are over 6000 genetic conditions and maternal-fetal medicine specialists are exposed to hundreds of these conditions on a day to day basis. Practicing MFMs may not be specialists in genetics, however there are a few conditions that are important to recognize and know the treatment for as this could be life-saving for the mother or fetus.
