I am Dr. Md Shahjahan Siraj, MD, MMedSc, a physician and public health researcher with over six years of experience in maternal and child health. I currently serve as a Research Investigator at icddr,b and as the Country Coordinator for the Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research. My work focuses on reducing adverse birth outcomes, particularly maternal anemia, infections during pregnancy, low birth weight, and the causes of maternal and neonatal mortality in low- and middle-income countries.
Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to addressing critical challenges in maternal and child health through innovative research and evidence-based interventions. I have authored approximately 30 peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals, contributing valuable insights to the field. Additionally, I am serving as a Guest Editor for a special issue on menopause for the Reproductive, Female, and Child Health (RFCH) journal, further underscoring my commitment to advancing women’s health.
I am particularly passionate about leveraging research and technology to improve healthcare outcomes. My work involves exploring sustainable and data-driven approaches to strengthen healthcare systems and enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes. I have also been actively involved in multi-country collaborative projects, which have enriched my ability to address global health challenges from a broader perspective. Looking ahead, I aim to integrate advanced technologies, such as Machine learning and AI, into maternal and child health research to develop innovative solutions for improving healthcare delivery and outcomes. My goal is to contribute to building resilient healthcare systems that effectively address the pressing needs of mothers and newborns, particularly in resource-limited settings, and to play a role in reducing global health disparities.
