Resident
Rambam Medical Health Center, Israel
Efrat Leibowitz, MD, Ob/gyn resident, Rambam Health Care Campus, Haifa
As a resident in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Rambam hospital, I combine clinical work, patient care, and research. I graduated from Ben-Gurion University Medical School. Prior to my MD, I completed a Master’s degree at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in subjects in which I am still involved: musicology and Bible studies. During that period, I won the Luxemburg Fund scholarship, the Dean’s scholarship, and the Rector’s Prize. While in medical school, I did research on the preferences of physicians for public vs. private medicine, which I am in the process of publishing. During my current residency, I am doing research on artificial intelligence as an aid to ultrasound; the medical benefits of lactation; and the timing of hysteroscopy. Last year I completed a course in lactation medicine. I continue playing in an orchestra as I did in my premedical studies and medical school years. I dote on my husband Daniel and our three daughters. We live on Kibbutz Ein Hanatziv – an agricultural community. My extracurricular interests include swimming, theatre, concerts, and natural-cooking cuisine.
