Alim Swarray-Deen (MBChB, MSc, FWACS, FGCS). I'm a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ghana Medical School. I have a distinguished career spanning Sierra Leone and Ghana, focusing on high-risk pregnancies, fetal Doppler ultrasonography, and the management of congenital anomalies.
I completed my MBChB from the University of Sierra Leone, an MSc in Medical Ultrasound from Imperial College London, and fellowships from both the West African College of Surgeons and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. My clinical acumen is matched by my dedication to research and education, as evidenced by my pivotal role in developing the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Curriculum for the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and my mentorship of emerging specialists in the field.
As a researcher, I have contributed extensively to the understanding of maternal and perinatal health in low-resource settings. My work encompasses significant studies on stillbirths, pregnancy complications associated with sickle cell disease, and the clinical application of fetal Doppler assessments. My ongoing research aims to further improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, reinforcing my commitment to advancing healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa.
