Shelby Masters, MD is a PGY-3 OBGYN resident at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI, who will be applying to Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship this upcoming cycle. She received both her undergraduate and her medical school degree from Michigan State University.
Her research focus is obesity in pregnancy, as well as obstructive sleep apnea in pregnancy. She is currently interested in the role of obesity in pregnancy and length of stay, as well of the role of obesity and route of delivery. She will be presenting a poster regarding obesity and length of stay on February 9th at 345pm. In regards to OSA in pregnancy, she is researching the role this plays on maternal and fetal outcomes. Recently, Shelby has been investigating how obstetric providers manage obesity and frequency of referral to bariatric surgery.
Shelby is interested in resident and medical student education and served as the resident education chair this year. She has also served as the resdient chair of the robotic didactic education. Shelby is a member of the monthly Maternal Critical Care conference at Henry Ford Health since her PGY-1 year. Other commitee's she actively participates in include Women's Health Collaborative, Equity and Inclusion Journal Club, OSA Screening Committee, and the Resident Advisory Committee.
