Assistant Professor
Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai West
My name is Laura Gilroy, MD and I am a Maternal Fetal Medicine fellow at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. I came to Maimonides having completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, CT. Prior to that, I obtained my medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. I started my academic career with a BS in Anthropology from Haverford College.
I have always been compelled to serve others, particularly those who are at socioeconomic disadvantage. I have experience working in global health as a pre-med and in residency, and I am curently involved in Maimonides' Global Health program. I also care deeply about quality and safety. I currently co-chair Maimonides' Resident Quality Council, and serve as an active member in the Ob/Gyn department's Peer Review Committee. Working in New York City for fellowship has provided me with unique opportunities to learn about the ways resouces are allocated within a busy urban healthcare setting. I am fortunate to be exposed to the varieties of pathology within our patient population.
