Dr. Ukachi (Uk) Emeruwa is a clinically-active Assistant Professor and Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Scholar in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California San Diego. She is first-generation Nigerian-American, born and raised in Southern California, after which she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Global Health and Health Policy from Princeton University. She subsequently received her medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as a Master of Public Health in Health and Social Behavior with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Emeruwa completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital Integrated Residency Program and her fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her professional interests include community-level program design, implementation, and evaluation; behavioral economics-informed health interventions; hypertensive disorders of pregnancy; malaria in pregnancy; and racial and ethnic disparities in maternal health.
