Fetal Care and Surgery Center, Division of Fetal Medicine and Surgery, Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Medicine
Faezeh Aghajani, MD is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Fetal Care and Surgery Center (FCSC) at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Her current research focuses on improving maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes of fetal interventions, particularly for vasa previa and neural tube defects.
Faezeh's research journey began early in medical school, where she helped establish patient registries and contributed to various projects at Arash Women's Hospital affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, she pivoted her efforts to creating data registries for affected patients, enabling critical research during a time of uncertainty.
After earning her MD from TUMS in 2021, she followed her passion for research in maternal-fetal medicine to Barcelona, where she joined the groundbreaking “Artificial Placenta” project led by Dr. Eduard Gratacos at the BCNatal Fetal Medicine Research Center. This innovative project aims to address prematurity by recreating a womb-like environment for extremely premature infants. After almost two years of deepening her dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fetal medicine, she joined FCSC to further refine her clinical research skills and continue her pursuit of better outcomes for mothers and babies.
