After completing medical school at the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Medicine, and the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, I elected to specialize in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM fellowship), 1994-1996, Mt Sinai Hospital , the University of Toronto, Canada.
Upon return to Israel I resumed my clinical responsibilities at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division, Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and in 2019 I was appointed Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with >22,000 deliveries/year.
Research
ADVERSE PREGNANCY OUTCOMES, RECURRENT/EARLY PREGNANCY LOSS, SPONTANEOUS PRETERM DELIVERY: THE “PLACENTA SYNDROME” & MOLECULAR MECHANISMS OF THE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL INVASION PROCESS by using the Protease activated receptors( PARs), a subgroup of GPCRs. The mechanisms at the basis of the placenta establishment are the basis for understanding normal pregnancy as well as complications, and also provide a comparative model for malignant invasion. EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES FOCUSED ON ADVERSE PREGNANCY OUTCOME AND NEONATAL HEALTH IMPLICATIONS. I have been privileged to use information from our center perinatal computerized data and a long-lasting and fruitful cooperation with large national databases such as the Service for Health Statistics of the Ministry of Health and the Gertner Institute.
Teaching
I teach at the different levels of health practitioners and researchers, encourage the funding of young researchers and clinicians, with the goal of enhancing our understanding pregnancy outcomes and improving maternal, fetal, and neonatal standards of care and wellbeing. Many of my students have gone on to conduct research and publish their findings.
