Claudia Tawil is a Junior pre-medical student at the University of Pennsylvania, pursuing studies in Chemistry and Healthcare Markets and Finance. Under the mentorship of Dr. Nadav Schwartz, she conducts maternal-fetal medicine research focused on training AI models to segment placental structures from medical imaging. This work aims to enhance the monitoring of fetal growth, enabling early detection of complications and improving prenatal care outcomes.
Beyond her research, Claudia serves as an Organic Chemistry Learner's Assistant, supporting over 150 students through recitations, office hours, and exam preparation. She has also gains clinical experience by shadowing specialists in reproductive endocrinology, dermatology, radiology, and plastic surgery.
In addition to her academic and clinical work, Claudia is the President of Penn’s Strictly Funk Dance Company, where she oversees performances, manages finances, and leads logistical efforts for the hip-hop and contemporary dance group. She is also the founder of GEM: Guidance, Empowerment, and Medicine for Women’s Health, an organization dedicated to advancing women’s health in Philadelphia through education, advocacy, and outreach. GEM’s initiatives include providing HPV vaccines and menstrual products to underserved populations and fundraising for women’s health-focused charities.
