Arun Jeyabalan, MD MS is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. She serves as the Division Director for Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Magee-Womens Hospital. She received her MD degree from the University of Michigan and completed her residency at University of California, San Diego. She completed her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship in 2003 at University of Pittsburgh and has been on the academic faculty since that time. In addition to leading a busy clinical practice, Dr. Jeyabalan has over 23 years of research experience in the arena of vascular adaptations to pregnancy as well as hypertensive and renal disorders including preeclampsia. She has authored numerous publications, book chapters and reviews related to these topics and served on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology Task Force on Hypertension developing guidelines related to hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Magee-Womens Hospital Clinical and Translational Research Center as well as the Labor and Delivery Specimen Procurement Unit. She has extensive experience leading large pregnancy cohort studies and currently serves as the clinical lead for the Magee Obstetric Maternal and Infant (MOMI) Biobank, a perinatal cohort with linked biospecimens collected across pregnancy. She is currently involved in the Global Pregnancy Collaboration and working on projects related to the use of clinical and biomarkers for risk stratification of preeclampsia.
