Maria Phillis, MD, JD is a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and board certified OBGYN. She completed her fellowship at MetroHealth/University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve, her residency training at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University and her medical school at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Prior to medical school she was an attorney, specializing in child protection work. She completed her legal training at The University of Chicago Law School and her undergraduate work at Case Western Reserve University. She is very involved with advocacy and leadership work with a variety of organizations. She has previously served on the Board of ACOG and as the JFCAC Chair. She is the current District V Young Physician Representative. She is also a member of the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee of SMFM this year after her prior service as a resident member. She is also on the Executive Board of Preterm a non profit sexual healh and abortion clinic in Cleveland Ohio. She lives in Shaker Heights with her incredibly supportive husband and perpetually chaotic toddler.
