Dr Thomas Owens

Thomas Owens, MD is a third year Maternal Fetal Medicine fellow at Mount Sinai West Hospital in NYC. Hailing from Kentucky, Thomas found a passion for medicine initially in his underserved/rural environment. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry, Thomas completed a Fulbright Scholarship in South Korea. During his time in Korea, Thomas interned at the Korean Human Rights Foundation focusing on women's health. Additionally, he went on to found a non-profit mentoring program called KAMP (Korean Adolescent Mentoring Program) which focused on mentoring through diversity. Thomas later matriculated into Howard University College of Medicine where he obtain his Medical Degree. During his time there he was selected to travel with a team to Gondar University Hospital located in Gondar, Ethiopia. It was here where Thomas was able to combine his interests of global health and OBGYN. He has special interests in global health, cardiovascular disease of pregnancy, and diabetes in pregnancy. Thomas will graduate MFM fellowship this summer and has accepted a faculty MFM position at Emory University.
