Raina Advani attended UC Berkeley and received undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She then worked in New York City while attending the post baccalaureate pre-medical program at Columbia University. She subsequently matriculated to medical school at the University of Michigan where she led a mentorship program for high school students from underrepresented backgrounds and was an advocate for diversity in medicine. In medical school, she pursued research under a T-35 grant on adolescent contraceptive uptake, perinatal depression, and shared-decision making in contraceptive counseling. She then completed residency at Emory University where she pursued research on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. She is now a 1st year fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. Her current clinical and research interests include hypertension in pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, and mood disorders in pregnancy.
