Dr. Ashley Battarbee is an Associate Professor in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. Her primary clinical and research focus is the management of diabetes in pregnancy with the overarching goal of improving both short-term pregnancy outcomes and long-term maternal and child health. To that end, she is currently the PI of a multicenter randomized clinical trial evaluating the optimal method of glycemic management after antenatal corticosteroids and a multicenter randomized clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of continuous glucose monitoring for management of type 2 diabetes in pregnancy. She also serves as site-PI for multiple other clinical trials of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes in pregnancy. At UAB, she established the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program which she leads as the Director and also actively participates as a member of the UAB IRB. Over the past few years she has enjoyed serving on the SMFM Research Committee as Vice Chair and now on the SMFM Publications Committee.
