Rachel Petherbridge is 5th year PhD candidate in Systems Biology at Harvard University. Her research focuses on leveraging routine blood tests to enhance the diagnosis of obstetric disorders and outcomes, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and preterm delivery, and to understand biological mechanisms underlying blood dynamics during pregnancy. Her broader body of work has investigated the utility of laboratory tests in long term mortality prediction and development of sepsis in pediatric patients. She is more broadly interested in electronic health record (EHR) based research and advocating for social justice in medical science. Outside of research, Rachel is an active union organizer and loves to practice clogging, a style of folk dance rooted in the Appalachian Mountains.
