Timothy Wen, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Biomedical Informatics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Political Science at UCLA, earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and received his MD from the Keck School of Medicine at USC. Dr. Wen trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by a combined fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Clinical Informatics at UCSF.
With a background in clinical medicine, perinatal epidemiology, and informatics, Dr. Wen is dedicated to mitigating maternal morbidity and mortality through data-driven solutions. His research focuses on developing and implementing risk prediction algorithms within the electronic health record (EHR), leveraging AI/ML to address critical obstetric challenges, and translating these innovations into real-world health system interventions. Dr. Wen has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and presented extensively at national meetingse. His ongoing work integrates perinatal epidemiology, AI/ML, and implementation science.
