Celeste Durnwald MD is an Associate Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Durnwald is the Director of the Perinatal Diabetes Program at the University of Pennsylvania and High Risk Services at the Helen O. Dickens Center for Women’s Health. She is also the MFM fellowship program director at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Durnwald has served as site-PI for NICHD funded multicenter trials evaluating treatment strategies for individuals with type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes. She also completed the GLAM study, a large prospective cohort of 760 participants using continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to better characterize glycemic profiles indicative of a diagnosis of gestational diabetes and adverse perinatal outcomes independent of a GDM diagnosis. She will serve as lead investigator for the upcoming IMAGINE study studying the use of CGM for the early detection and management of hyperglycemia in early pregnancy. She is interested in use of diabetes technology, most specifically CGM, to improve perinatal outcomes associated with all types of diabetes in pregnancy.
