Deborah Krakow, MD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of California at UCLA, and Professor of Human Genetics, Pediatrics and Orthopaedic Surgery. She is board certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics and Genomics and has served on the Board of the ABMGG. She has spent the last 25 years studying the prenatal presentation of mendelian disorders and in her laboratory determined the molecular basis of congenital birth defects, particularly those that affect the skeleton. This focus has led to a deeper understanding of how genetic disorders present in the prenatal period and through gene discoveries we are beginning to understand the complex underlying biology. As co-Director of the International Skeletal Dysplasia Registry, she continues to evaluate patients with rare disorders and in this capacity has used radiologic findings in skeletal disorders and has applied to prenatal ultrasound image. She has published on articles and textbooks on the prenatal presentation of genetic disorders.
