Professor Sailesh Kumar

Professor Kumar is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow and Mayne Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Head of the Mayne Academy of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland. He holds an NHMRC Investigator Grant and currently leads a large Medical Research Future Fund trial evaluating a novel therapy to reduce intrapartum fetal compromise. He has >200 publications and has received >$12M in NHRMC/MRFF/Industry funding. His area of research is in fetal therapy, fetal growth restriction, prediction of adverse perinatal outcomes and placental biomarkers. He has supervised 16 local and international PhD students at UQ some of whom have received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Higher Degree by Research Thesis.
