Resident
NYU Grossman School of Medicine
Gabrielle K. Concepcion-Taveras, MD is a third-year OB/GYN resident at NYU Langone, originally from the Bronx, New York. Born and raised in Washington Heights, also known as "Little Dominican Republic," she left NYC to attend Bates College in Maine, where she majored in French and Francophone Studies. Her studies took her to Nice, France, and Kigali, Rwanda, where she immersed herself in the culture and strengthened her French language skills.
Before medical school, Gabrielle spent three gap years working in high-need communities in the South Bronx—first as an emergency department medical scribe and later as a scribe and office manager in a private family medicine clinic serving at-risk populations. She went on to earn her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, returning to the Bronx to continue serving her community.
Passionate about obstetrics, and in particular maternal-fetal medicine, Gabrielle values continuity of care and relationships with her patients. She aspires to always have patients feel heard and cared for. Her favorite surgery is the cesarean section. As a native Spanish speaker, she currently uses her language skills daily in patient care. Outside of medicine, she is an avid animal lover and has had animals her entire life. In addition to her cat, she recently rescued a cattle dog/retriever mix. She enjoys baking, making beeswax candles, and spending time with family and friends. She feels grateful and privileged to have the opportunity to provide care every day, and she looks forward to a career continuing to care for high-risk obstetric patients.
