Dr. Tejumola Apata, MD F.A.C.O.G. Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow, University of Rochester
Dr. Tejumola Apata, MD, is an OB-GYN physician and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow at the University of Rochester, where she specializes in the care of high-risk pregnancies and the management of complex maternal and fetal conditions. With a strong foundation in obstetrics, Dr. Apata is committed to advancing maternal health outcomes, particularly for underserved populations facing health disparities and limited access to care.
Dr. Apata completed her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Central Florida HCA Consortium. She is currently advancing her training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine through a fellowship at the University of Rochester. Her research interests include preconception counseling, optimizing maternal health conditions prior to and following pregnancy, exploring patients’ lived experiences with traumatic birth stories, and understanding the factors that guide patients' clinical decision-making when considering a Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC).
She is also dedicated to advancing reproductive justice, addressing racial disparities in Black maternal health, and advocating for community-based solutions to improve maternal outcomes in underserved populations and marginalized communities. She is an active member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and is committed to promoting health equity through evidence-based practices and advocacy.
In addition to her deep commitment to managing high-risk pregnancies, she is equally dedicated to leveraging her social media platform to dispel prevalent medical myths surrounding various women’s health concerns.
