Dr. Owens completed her residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Univeristy of Mississippi. Dr. Owens is an active member of ACOG and AGOS. Her research and clinical interests are in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, Maternal and Infant mortality, healthcare disparities, hemoglobinopathies, and substance use disorders in pregnancy. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters, and serves as President of the MS State Board of Medical Licensure as well as the Chair of the Mississippi Maternal Mortality Review Committee. She is in practice at Ascension St. Vincent's Hospital.
Dr. Owens was the inagural host of “Southern Remedy for Women”, a talk-radio show focused on health issues for women and the people that love them. In addition to her professional activities, Dr. Owens enjoys spending time with her family.
