Sabrina Montgomery, MD Candidate, is a second-year medical student at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California, and a proud graduate of UCLA. As an aspiring OB/GYN, Sabrina is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities, particularly in underserved communities and among women of color.
Sabrina has been actively involved in research and leadership roles that align with her passion for maternal-fetal health. She participated in the Stanford REACH-HBMC Summer Research Program as a Dunlevie Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Research Scholar, where her research focused on disparities in fetal autopsy and placental histopathology following stillbirth in the United States. Her work has led to multiple abstract submissions to the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
As the Founding Co-President of Charles R. Drew University's OB/GYN Interest Group, Sabrina has spearheaded initiatives such as journal clubs and special events, including hosting an address by the Surgeon General of California. She has also worked to create opportunities for her peers and foster a collaborative environment dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare.
Sabrina’s dedication to improving outcomes for underserved populations has been recognized through several prestigious honors. She was the recipient of the 2024 IMPACT Award from the Charles R. Drew Medical Society, the Los Angeles affiliate of the National Medical Association. She was also presented with the 2024 Dr. Ersno Eromo Leadership and Scholarly Productivity Award and the 2024 Tracking Foundation Scholars Scholarship Program from the Congressional Black Caucus.
Her dedication to improving outcomes for underserved populations has also been recognized through her selection as a Medical Student Scholar for the SMFM, an opportunity she is honored to embrace. Sabrina’s commitment to advancing equitable care and her contributions to research exemplify her mission to improve maternal-fetal health for marginalized communities.
