Raj Vatsa is an MD-PhD student at Harvard University, who recently completed his PhD in Health Policy (Methods for Policy Research). Raj previously graduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Global Health and Health Policy. His research interests involve leveraging methods in causal inference and machine learning to advance evidence-based maternity care and quality of maternal and newborn health outcomes in the U.S. and abroad. His doctoral dissertation offered insights on a patient-facing digital health tool implemented in health facilities across Kenya; recent Medicaid payment policies regarding provision of immediate postpartum long-acting reversible contraception; and the utility of electronic-health-record-based risk prediction models to identify and guide management for individuals at high risk of adverse outcomes like late stillbirth.
